What is Therapeutic Counselling?

Counselling - which often comes under the umbrella term ‘talking therapy’ - gives you an opportunity to reflect and consider your problems.  It is considered to be a helpful way to alleviate familiar mental health problems such as stress, anxiety and depression.  Therapeutic counselling is becoming an increasingly popular compliment to medication and is often used as an alternative to it.

As your therapist, I’ll offer you a safe, confidential space for you to explore your problems.  By listening to you with empathy and without judgement, I can help you come to terms with traumatic life experiences.  Counselling can also help you explore changes you may wish to make … perhaps you want to find greater self confidence, improve your relationships or break away from habits you find unhelpful?

As part of your therapeutic experience, I can also offer you guidance on how to manage stress, anxiety and panic attacks as well as ideas on how you might increase your self-care.
