Online & Telephone Therapy

What Is Online and Telephone Therapy?

In essence, online and telephone sessions offer you the same experience as face-to-face therapy. However, there are some practical differences and as such you may wish to consider the following:

  • Location: it is recommended that you find a space where you feel relaxed, which is private and where you will not be disturbed or overheard.

  • Background noise: it might be helpful to minimise household noise such as washing machines and pets, and to consider any possible interruptions such as the doorbell or others you share your home with.

  • Confidentiality: earphones are worth considering to assist with the confidentiality of your sessions.

  • Comfort: a comfy chair is essential and it may be helpful to consider having tissues and a glass of water to hand too.

  • Cyber Security: it is strongly recommended that you have up-to-date virus software and that your WIFI is secure.

How Does Online Counselling Therapy Work?

I only use Zoom for online counselling because it offers end-to-end encryption which prevents unauthorised access. Zoom is free for you to use as a guest and if you are unfamiliar with this system, I will be happy to talk you through it. I also have a help sheet which I will send to you before your first session.

Who Is Eligible?

Due to insurance restrictions I am unable to work with anyone under 18 or who resides outside the UK. I will always carry out an initial assessment during your first session to ensure I am the right person to help you and that remote counselling is suitable for you.
